Normal Studio designed the architecture of the TUMO Center in Kapan (Syunik, Armenia). Dedicated to digital creation learning, the city’s former national neo-classic railway station—abandoned for years—has been rehabilitated and restored.
This first phase of the project completely restructures the building and reconnects it to the city through the creation of a wide staircase running along its façade, like an agora. The station now houses a shared learning space for children, a coworking area, and a cafeteria. A technical building, clad with diamond-shaped panels, has replaced a former warehouse to ensure the site’s operational needs.
The second phase will comprise three new buildings that will complete TUMO’s educational program: classrooms, robotics labs, offices, a recording studio, and even a cinema.
