This research project, carried out in partnership with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), focused on technological innovations in wood densification developed in EPFL’s research laboratory. Through a series of hydrothermal and mechanical treatments, wood native to the northern hemisphere takes on the exceptional mechanical properties of tropical wood. Despite being extremely fine, densified wood is also highly resistant to impact and moisture. In the spirit of sustainable development, we process the wood without any additives.
