Designing for Maison Puiforcat means working with heritage that began in 1820. We were struck by the modernity of Jean Puiforcat’s creations during the Art Deco period. When the company asked us to design a tea-and-coffee service, we found similarities between his simple, graphic vocabulary and our approach to shapes. The Phi service is based on the cylinder, an elementary shape, to which we have added “functions”: a pouring spout, a large walnut handle, a lid and a saucer.
