In 2015 we were invited to a residency by CIRVA (International Glass and Visual Arts Research Centre). Glass was a big first for us. We arrived without any preconceived ideas, and we were met with an exceptionally talented team of experts who were entirely dedicated to our project.
We mainly focused our research on the imprint of the mould, thinking about how to reproduce imperfect shapes, giving the fluid glass the chance to express itself. We developed two types of moulds: the first in a technical fabric designed as a patterned shape that reveals how the glass has been blown; the second, made of perforated sheet metal, shows the material taking shape. After dozens of trials and tests, this research resulted in a series of entirely glass lamps in various states of transparency, texture and colour.
